NAME: Bonny Read
NICKNAME: Bread (sometimes 'Bread the Brayer';)
AGE: Twenty something
WEAPON: A heavy sword which if rumours are to be believed, she commissioned a blacksmith for, but couldnt afford. as she was about to battle the blacksmith for it, the blacksmith fearing his life, challenged her to a game of chess instead for it.

--- Backstory: ---
The daughter of an English privateer and Japanese Kunoichi (yes, shes a ninja pirate =p) she traveled much of the world, but when she was 12 her parents were killed by a gang leader, she personally assasinated the gang leader and took over rule of the gang herself. however not satisfied by the death of the old leader, she personally killed every member that did not cut off a finger for her. she then disbanded the gang and made a living through burglary and assasinations.

She is a real cold hearted killer, and her attitude to battle is that you should not start what you cant finish. However, a little drink and the offer of a game or some cards and she warms up significantly, and has been known to flirt quite alot in this state.

Her legs are entirely covered in bandages, some say it is to conceal some horrific disfigurement, some say she is such an assasin she can turn herself invisible, but she has done it so often her lower body cannot become visible anymore, others say the bandages conceal throwing knives... the truth certainly isnt known by anyone living.

I'd recommend darker shading and lighter highlights ;) Manually adding contrast really, because you've put effort into the bottom of the dress but it still looks kind of drab.

I just got knocked out of a knockout comp, so I'll be looking to see how you get on in this :)

Given her heritage I would assume she is good at both chess and shogi?

I like the simple design. It fits well for the time period.

oh I can assure you I play chess, but I've never played shogi. but a quick look at the wikipedia article suggests its pretty similar, I just need somebody to play and I should pick it up in no time, but a google shearch shows very few places to play online, at least no places that I would feel comfortable with, I think people play online for a challenge, not for me to get the hang of the game. :(

I played chess for a good part of my life. It is only in the past year that I've picked up Shogi. Unfortanetly, since it is a japanese game there are few places to play online.
